FAMMIN Blog Tour

Thanks for taking time to check out this page. Let me share with you what this is all about.

For the past three years I have been the children’s pastor at The Rock of Winter Haven. Recently I became very burdened with the way that I had done ministry during that time. Not that I had done anything majorly wrong, but I felt like ministry could be done in such a better way with much greater impact on the children in my church. This was when the thought of family ministry came to me. Family ministry is not a new thought. Not for me or for the ministry community. In fact it is a rather hot topic these days. In that moment I found myself asking the question, “What is Family Ministry?”

The Family Ministry Blog Tour grew from that thought. I started talking to some children’s and youth ministry people that I knew and started inviting them to blog their answer to this question. In the beginning I was confident that I could gather enough people to do one post a day, Monday  - Friday for 1 month. Before I knew it I was up to nearly 40 people with more coming on board each day.

The Family Blog Tour started on July 2nd, 2012 and ran through August of that year. Each weekday during that period one or two posts went live. The writers came from many different backgrounds, with a variety of perspectives. We have lead pastors, children’s pastors, youth pastors, middle school people, preschool people. We have everything from volunteers to bi-vocational, to full time church staff. We are even working on getting some parents that are not directly involved in ministry to share their answer to this question.

I hope that you find this information helpful. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at matt@itspastormatt.com.
