    The Answer for America

A year or two ago I did a series with the children in our church called “If My People”. This was based on 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”   At that time I felt that our country was in trouble. Now, with two years passed I feel…

Does It Matter What Non-Christians Think of Us?

Recently I have seen a number of articles talking about what non-Christians think of the church, Christians, or Christianity in general. When I saw another one come into my email this morning I began to wonder if it even matters. Should we be concerned with what people outside the church think of us? Well, my answer is no…and yes. Friday Favorites

Ok, I know it’s not Friday, but here are a few of my favorite things from around the internet and the world. Social Media Package from 252 Basics: There is lots of talk about using social media to communicate with the parents in your ministry. The fine folks at reThink are doing more than just talking, they are actually providing the material for their customers to use. THIS IS AWESOME. As a bi-vocational children’s pastor I LOVE this. This is the kind of thing that I would love to have been doing for some time, but I simply don’t have the time. Thanks reThink for doing this. Man skydives from…

    Book Review: The Preschooler’s Bible

Recently I was asked to write a review of this book. I was very excited to have the opportunity. Having a preschooler of my own I thought what better way to get a feel for the book than to share it with her. Well when the book came in I took a quick look at it. The illustrations were ok, but not really that great, or so I thought. Well, when my daughter got home from preschool I showed here our new Bible and SHE LOVED IT. Turns out while the illustrations did to thrill me, they did thrill her. I guess they weren’t intended for me anyway. I told…

    Church Is…Asylum

Recently my family got Netflix. Since then I have been watching a bunch of old episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation. If I’m honest this is one of my favorite shows of all time. Well in the episodes that I have been watching over the past several days there have been several people requesting asylum on the Enterprise. This spurred the thought that the church is a place of asylum. When we first think of asylum we may think of a place where crazy people are house. While this may be true of the church on some level, that’s not what I am talking about. Merriam-Webster provides the following…
