    That’s My Church

As I see it I belong to the biggest church of all. My church has millions of members around the world. My church meets in big buildings and small buildings, in buildings we own or ones rented on Sunday morning, in people’s homes, in warzones and even in prison. My church sings everything from hymns to rock and roll. My church has services on everyday of the week. My church speaks many different languages. My church has people that risk their very lives just to attend. Members of my church have been raised to great heights in society and some have been martyred just for being a member. Members of…

    Kidmin, Have Confidence

Ok, I’m gonna start with a confession. This post was inspired by Amy Dolan. Amy was the keynote speaker at a small, regional conference I attended a couple months ago. During the last session she spoke on Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” She used this as an encouragement for volunteers in children’s ministry. As she spoke, I was reminded of Mrs. Johnson. You see Mrs. Johnson was my Sunday school teacher when I was in Kindergarten. Pursuing Your Calling: Destination Unknown

I love road trips. There’s something about getting on the road with a destination in mind, and a route planned, but little else set in stone. You never know what kind of adventures you might have along the way. One time I was driving from my home in central Florida to North Carolina for a friend’s wedding. I stopped at a rest stop along the way and ran into a girl that I had gone to high school with. This was several years after high school and hundreds of miles from home. I mean what are the odds. That’s why I love road trips; you just never know what might…

Today we are going to look at what it means to be called. “A called life means many things for many people.” J.D. Walt How true is this? I mean just take a moment and read our Author page (LINK). Look at the many different forms that calling has taken in the lives of the authors on this site. Let’s look at some of the people from the Bible: • Matthew was a tax collector. This position was viewed as about as low as a Jew could get. He became…

    Discipleship Should Be Easier

Everyday my son comes home from school and we make sure that he does his home work. If he needs help we help him. When special projects come up we partner with him to make sure they get done. This scene happens in countless homes across America. Add to this parents coaching, or at least watching, their children’s sports teams, plus scouts, and a long list of other activities and it is clear that most parents are invested in the activities of their children. Yet we struggle in the church to get parents plugged in to the discipleship of their children. The same parents that will spend hours helping their…
